IRM Global Risk Trends Report 2024

The Institute of Risk Management issued it’s annual Risk Trends report 2024 this week.

With increasing complexity and uncertainty in the business environment, organisations are recognising the importance of proactively identifying and managing risks. Contributions have been made by our Group/Chapter Chairs and Committee members to share their thoughts on current, and upcoming risk trends.

As Chair of the Climate Change Committee, climate change continues to be perceived as the gravest long-term threat to humanity and in the latest World Economic Forum Global Risk Report 2024 with environmental risks continuing to dominate the risk landscape with extreme weather as the top environmental risk. In respect to extreme weather, the report states that new records in respect to temperature rises will continue to be brokenleading to extreme heatwaves, drought, wildfires and flooding.
